Als ich aus Deutschland fortgehen musste, bin ich sozusagen nackt und barfuß herausgetrieben worden, in Nachthemd und Pantoffeln, darüber der Mantel. Es war ein Donnerstag. Von der Nikolaiwache ist man um vier Uhr früh gekommen und hat uns abgeholt: Sofort raus! Aufstehen! Zieht euch an, ihr werdet abgeschoben! Nein, sie sagten nicht abgeschoben, sondern wir müssten zu einer Sammelstelle, in der Schule. Dann hat man uns auf den Bahnhof gebracht, und dort sahen wir viele bekannte und unbekannte Juden aus Leipzig an den Bahnsteigen, die in die Züge hinein gedrängt wurden. Kein Mensch von denen, die dabeistanden, hat irgend A oder B gesagt. Sie haben gestanden und uns angeglotzt. Ich weiß nicht, ob die Bevölkerung wusste, was passierte, aber kein Mensch hat gefragt oder gewagt zu sagen, dass er uns vielleicht helfen wollte. Ob aus Angst oder aus Freude, das konnte ich als Kind nicht beurteilen.
