Nach Tisch habe ich gegen alle Traditionen meinen Schlaf fahren lassen müssen und habe mit Hanna, Dati und Joti bis zum Jugendg'ttesdienst einen Spaziergang im Johanna-Park gemacht. [. . . ] Also Joti und ich waren fast den ganzen Tag allein. Da ich morgens eine Erkältung neuerdings im Entstehen begriffen spürte, entschloss ich mich kurzer Hand zu einem Dampfbad und nahm, da ich ihn doch nicht alleine zu Hause lassen konnte, Joti mit. [. . . ] So habe ich über einen Witz ganz besonders lachen müssen. Auf dem Wege kam ihn nämlich 'ein menschliches Rühren' an und da ermahnte er mich plötzlich an ein Erlebnis in Dresden, das wir beide erlebt hatten, wo das Gleiche passiert war und ich keinen geeigneten Ort zur Erledigung für ihn wusste. Da hatte ich ihn beauftragt, einen Schutzmann nach der nächsten Bedürfnis-Anstalt zu befragen. Er hatte aber jetzt das Wort nicht mehr richtig in Erinnerung und sagte wo ist denn die nächste Bedürftigungsstube oder wie das heißt. Er war natürlich sehr beleidigt, als ich mein Lachen durchaus nicht bemessen konnte.
After lunch, I had to renounce my sleep contrary to all traditions and I went with Hanna, Dati and Joti for a walk in Johanna Park until the youth service began. [. . . ] So Joti and I were alone almost all day. As I felt a cold coming in the morning, I decided without further ado to go to a steam bath and took Joti with me, since I could not leave him at home alone. [. . . ] So I had to laugh about one joke in particular. On the way, he felt the 'call of nature' and it suddenly reminded me of an incident in Dresden that we had experienced together, where the same thing had happened and I had not known a suitable place for him to go to. I had then instructed him to ask a policeman the way to the next public bathroom (in German: Bedürfnis-Anstalt). But now he could not properly remember the word and said, where is the next Bedürftigungsstube or what the word is. He was, of course, very offended when I could not limit my laughter at all.
